Brief

The Uniformed Services Pay Act of 1981 was enacted to increase pay and allowances for members of the uniformed services. The act provides for a specific adjustment in basic pay and allowances, with rates specified by section. Commissioned officers are entitled to monthly basic pay based on years of service, ranging from $4,506.60 to $5,588.10 per month. Warrant officers receive monthly pay ranging from $1,422.00 to $2,428.80 per month, and enlisted members receive monthly pay ranging from $968.70 to $11,844.10 per month. The act also provides for special pays for certain hazardous duties, including diving duty, submarine duty, and aerial flight by officers. Additionally, the act establishes a bonus program for enlistment in the Army and provides for engineering and scientific career continuation pay.
