'The Age Discrimination Claims Assistance Act of 1988 extends the statute of limitations for certain claims under the Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967. The law applies to charges filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission before April 7, 1988, and allows civil actions to be brought within a 540-day period after enactment. Notifying individuals of their rights and benefits is also required. Reports are submitted to Congress on the number of affected claims and actions taken by the Commission.'
