Brief

The Renewable Energy Industry Development Act of 1983 was enacted on July 18, 1984, to facilitate commerce by the domestic renewable energy industry and related service industries. The law required an evaluation and report on the status of these industries, as well as the establishment of a program to enhance commerce in renewable energy technologies. This program aimed to broaden participation, promote the industries globally, and establish an information program for technical and marketing information. An interagency working group was also established to coordinate Federal Government actions affecting commerce in renewable energy products and services.
