Brief

The Export-Import Bank Act Amendments of 1986 is a public law that amends the Export-Import Bank Act of 1945. The act makes several changes to the Export-Import Bank's policies and procedures, including allowing the bank to impose fees for conferences and seminars sponsored by or provided by the bank. It also requires the bank to enhance its medium-term financing program and prohibits the bank from providing credit or guarantees to Marxist-Leninist countries unless determined in the national interest. The act also establishes a tied aid credit program to counteract predacious financing practices of foreign countries, restricts aid to Angola, and opposes multilateral assistance for foreign surplus commodities and minerals that would cause substantial injury to US producers.
