Brief

A widow is eligible for a pension increase if her husband was a pensioner at the time of his death and would have been entitled to a pension increase if he were still alive. The widow's entitlement is equal to half of the increase in pension her husband would have received if he had not died and had been receiving pension before the commencing date, unless the husband did not opt for Section 26 of the Superannuation Act and did not revoke the election, in which case the widow is eligible for five-eighths of the increase.
