New Measures to Combat Fentanyl Production and Organized Crime in Canada

On February 28, 2025, the Health Canada issued an update regarding Government of Canada takes further action to combat fentanyl production and organized crime. The government formalized additional controls for three fentanyl precursor chemicals, including phenethyl bromide, propionic anhydride, and benzyl chloride, and the drug carisoprodol, to strengthen existing robust controls on substances linked to the illegal drug market.
