'The United Nations Act, 1985, is an Act respecting Article 41 of the Charter of the United Nations. The Act enables the Governor in Council to make orders and regulations necessary or expedient for implementing Security Council decisions that do not involve the use of armed force. The Act also provides for penalties, including fines and imprisonment, for contravening these orders and regulations. Furthermore, any property dealt with contrary to these orders and regulations may be seized, detained, and forfeited. The Act requires that every order and regulation made under it be laid before Parliament within a certain period, and if both the Senate and House of Commons resolve to annul an order or regulation, it ceases to have effect.'
