The Total Assets for Public Holding Requirements (Trust and Loan Companies) Regulations were made by Her Excellency the Governor General in Council on October 4, 2001, pursuant to section 531 of the Trust and Loan Companies Act. The regulations came into force on October 24, 2001. These regulations define total assets for public holding requirements in respect of a company under the Trust and Loan Companies Act. Total assets are defined as the total value of the assets that would be reported on the company's balance sheet, prepared in accordance with the accounting principles and specifications of the Superintendent.
