Brief

The Small Business Act was amended by Public Law 98-47 on July 13, 1983. Section 8(a) of the act was modified to designate agencies for participation in government procurement programs. The President's designation must be made within 60 days after enactment, and contracts may not be entered into prior to October 1, 1983, or after September 30, 1985. This amendment aims to modify the Small Business Act and establish a new framework for government contracting with small businesses.
