Brief
The Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Act of 2019 is a federal law aimed at improving the security and trustworthiness of telecommunications networks. The law prohibits certain Federal subsidies from being used to purchase communications equipment or services that pose national security risks, and establishes a reimbursement program for providers of advanced communications service to replace such equipment or services. The law also requires the Commission to publish a list of covered communications equipment or services posing national security risks and provides for measures to avoid waste, fraud, and abuse in the Program.
