Brief
The Preventive Health Amendments of 1984 was enacted on October 30, 1984, to revise and extend programs for health services and preventive health services. The Act aimed to improve public health by making grants to states for research in, and training and public health programs for, the prevention and control of sexually transmitted diseases. It also authorized appropriations for fiscal years 1985 through 1987. Additionally, the Act provided funding for emergency medical services for children and state planning grants.
