The Jobs and Skills Australia Act 2022 is an Australian law that establishes Jobs and Skills Australia, a government agency responsible for providing advice on the country's labour market and workforce needs.
The main functions of Jobs and Skills Australia include: - Providing advice to the Minister and the Secretary on the current and emerging labour market in Australia - Analyzing workforce skills and training needs - Identifying labour market imbalances and analyzing demand and supply of skills - Informing government policy development and program delivery
Jobs and Skills Australia is established by this Act, which sets out its functions and establishment. The Act also establishes the office of the JSA Commissioner, Deputy Commissioners, staff assisting, and a Ministerial Advisory Board.
A member of the Ministerial Advisory Board must not be a representative of employee or employer organisations unless they have substantial experience in VET, higher education, industry, employment, industrial relations, labour market analysis, workforce planning, economics, governance, regional, rural, and remote Australia, or lived experience of disadvantage in the labour market.
The JSA Commissioner and Deputy Commissioners must act impartially and independently when giving advice to the Minister and JSA Commissioner.
