Brief

The Internet of Things Cybersecurity Improvement Act of 2020 establishes minimum security standards for IoT devices owned or controlled by the Federal Government. It requires the National Institute of Standards and Technology to develop and publish standards and guidelines for agencies on the use and management of IoT devices, including minimum information security requirements. The Act also prohibits procurement and use of IoT devices that prevent compliance with these standards and guidelines unless waived by the agency head.
