'The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has established a National Health Research Priority Projects program to fund projects on national health research priority areas. The program is monitored directly at the level of DG, ICMR, and national health research priorities are identified by the Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) and approved by the Governing Council (GC). Relevant research questions are decided based on feedback from multiple stakeholders, and Expressions of Interest (EoI) are floated for each priority area. Projects will be co-developed with participation of the applicant and ICMR, and will be mostly multi-centric with commonly agreed upon protocol. The focus is to bring about significant and impactful improvement in the priority health challenges. Projects will have a maximum period of 4 years, extendable by 1 year, and an upper ceiling for funding would be Rs 25Cr per project over the entire duration. The program is open for participation by ICMR as well as non-ICMR Indian scientists depending upon the project requirements.'
