'The Public Law 98-150, enacted on November 11, 1983, amended the Ethics in Government Act of 1978 to make changes in the authority of the Office of Government Ethics. The amendments included a five-year term for the Director and removal procedures, as well as changes to the Director's authority, budget submission requirements, inspector general assistance, and financial disclosure reporting. The law also applied financial disclosure requirements to staff of federal advisory committees and extended authorization of appropriations.'
