Part II: Verification and Maintenance of Meters

• Verification Requirements: Any meter used for electricity or gas supply must be verified within a specified period, with subsequent reverifications required at intervals determined by the director (subsection 12(1)).
• Reverification Procedure: The procedure for reverification involves submitting the meter to the director for resealing or marking, or cancellation of the seal or mark as necessary. This process may also involve resealing or re-marking the meter (subsection 12(2)).
• Director's Discretion: The director has discretion to determine a shorter period for reverification in specific cases, subject to approval by the Minister. Notice must be given before a prescribed time prior to the expiration of this period (subsection 12(2)).
• Inspector's Powers: An inspector may exercise powers related to verifying meters, including breaking seals or marks on verified meters.
• Accredited Meter Verifiers' Responsibilities: Accredited meter verifiers must keep records of their activities and are responsible for dealing with meters in accordance with the Act and regulations (sections 15-17).

Part III: Examination and Entry

• Examination of Records: Owners and accredited meter verifiers must provide records for examination by inspectors during normal business hours (section 18).
• Entry of Premises: Inspectors and accredited meter verifiers may enter premises at reasonable times to execute their functions under the Act. They may require assistance from owners or persons in charge of the premises (sections 20-21).

Part IV: Disputes

• Dispute Procedure: A dispute procedure is established for contractors or purchasers who are dissatisfied with meter conditions or registration. An inspector must proceed in a prescribed manner to resolve the dispute (section 23).
