Brief

The Designated Employees Pension Protection Regulations were made by His Excellency the Governor General in Council, pursuant to subsections 5(3) and (4) of the Airport Transfer (Miscellaneous Matters) Act. The regulations apply to a person who makes an election under paragraph 5(1)(e) of the Airport Transfer (Miscellaneous Matters) Act, subject to sections 3 and 4.

The regulations adapt provisions from the Public Service Superannuation Act to cover designated employees for airports. Section 3 excludes certain provisions from applying in respect of a surviving spouse or child of a designated employee who became employed on or after the transfer date.

Section 4 of the regulations adapts several provisions, including those related to pensionable service and retirement years. It also specifies that the year a person ceased to be employed by a designated airport authority is the same as the year they ceased to be employed in the Public Service.

These Regulations shall come into force on July 1, 1992, and may be cited as the Designated Employees Pension Protection Regulations.
