Brief

The Cyber Security Research and Development Act authorizes funding for computer and network security research and development programs. The Act establishes a program to award grants for basic research on innovative approaches to computer and network hardware and software that are aimed at enhancing computer security. It also provides for the establishment of multidisciplinary Centers for Computer and Network Security Research, as well as graduate traineeships in computer and network security research. The Act requires consultation with other Federal agencies in carrying out its provisions.
