The Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 is a set of regulations made under the Hazardous Products Act in Canada. The Regulations came into force on August 1, 2001, and their purpose is to regulate the safe use of consumer chemicals and containers.
These Regulations are divided into several parts, each addressing a specific aspect of safety for consumers. For instance, Part 2 sets out categories for hazardous ingredients based on their potential health risks, while Part 3 outlines guidelines for labeling and packaging chemical products.
They also specify requirements for the safe storage and disposal of chemical containers, as well as for the display of information on product labels. Additionally, these Regulations mandate that manufacturers provide a list of hazardous ingredients in their products, along with instructions for first aid treatment.
The Regulations are based on international standards such as those set by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
