The Community Disaster Loan Act of 2005 was enacted on October 7, 2005, to provide loans to local governments for essential services after a disaster. Up to $750 million can be transferred from the "Disaster Relief" fund to the Disaster Assistance Direct Loan Program to subsidize direct loans not exceeding $1 billion. The act also authorizes up to $1 million in administrative expenses for the loan program.
