Brief

'The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission Accessibility Reporting Regulations were published on June 22, 2021, to comply with the Accessible Canada Act. The regulations establish classes for broadcasting entities (Classes B1-B4) and telecommunications entities (Classes T1-T5), based on the number of employees they have. Regulated broadcasting entities must publish an accessibility plan every three years, in clear language, on their main digital platform, in a format that meets Level AA conformance standards from the WCAG. They also need to allow feedback from the public and provide alternative formats for their plans, progress reports, and feedback processes upon request. Telecommunications entities have similar obligations, with classes established based on employee numbers. The regulations require regulated entities to notify the Commission of the publication of their accessibility plans and progress reports within 48 hours.'
