The Canadian Commercial Corporation Act establishes a corporation to assist in the development of trade between Canada and other nations. The corporation is headed by a Chairperson, President, and directors, who are appointed for specific terms. The President serves as the chief executive officer and has direction and management over the business of the corporation. The corporation acts as an agent of Her Majesty in right of Canada and may make by-laws necessary to carry out its purposes. Its primary objectives include assisting persons in Canada to obtain goods and commodities from outside Canada, exporting goods and commodities from Canada, exercising powers or functions vested in the Minister, and performing any other powers or functions conferred on it. The corporation has borrowing power up to $90 million, may charge for providing services, and is subject to audit by the Auditor General of Canada.
