Brief

The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (Licence Charges) Act 1998 is an Act that imposes charges on licenses issued under the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998. The Act may be cited as the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety (Licence Charges) Act 1998.

This Act commences on the same day as the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998. The Act defines two types of licenses: facility license and source license, which are issued under the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Act 1998.

A person who is the holder of a facility license or a source license at any time during a financial year is liable to pay a charge for the license for that year. The amount of the charge for a year is prescribed by the regulations.

The Act also provides that tax-exempt bodies are liable to pay the charge imposed by this Act, even if they are exempt from taxes or charges under other laws.
