Brief

The Constitution (Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes) Orders (Amendment) Bill, 2022 aims to amend the lists of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in relation to the State of Jharkhand. The Bill proposes to omit the Bhogta community from the list of Scheduled Castes in relation to Jharkhand, as per the request of the State Government. Additionally, it seeks to include certain communities such as Bhogta, Deshwari, Ganjhu, Dautalbandi (Dwalbandi), Patbandi, Raut, Maajhia, Khairi (Kheri) in entry 16 of the list of Scheduled Tribes, Tamaria (Tamadia) community after entry 24, and Puran community after entry 32. The Bill seeks to achieve these objectives by amending the Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order, 1950 and the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order, 1950.
