Brief

'The Constitution (One Hundred and Twentieth Amendment) Bill, 2013 proposes to amend the Constitution of India by inserting a new article 124A. This article establishes the Judicial Appointments Commission, which will make recommendations for the appointment of Judges in Higher Judiciary. The proposed Bill aims to introduce transparency and accountability in the selection process by enabling equal participation of Judiciary and Executive in the appointment of Judges. It seeks to increase public confidence in the institution of judiciary by making the system more accountable.'
