Brief

The German Parliament has adopted a new law aimed at strengthening healthcare provision in municipalities. The "Law to strengthen health care in the municipality" aims to improve access to healthcare services for vulnerable patient groups, including children and adolescents, as well as patients who are socially disadvantaged, by simplifying administrative processes and increasing transparency in healthcare service quality. The proposed amendments introduce a new entitlement for psychotherapeutic treatment, simplify the process for accessing medical aids for patients in social-paediatric centres or medical treatment centers for adults with intellectual disabilities, and abolish the obligation to provide written justifications for requested treatments.
