Brief

The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2563 has been adopted by the European Commission on September 24, 2024. The main purpose of this regulation is to amend Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646 as regards additional content of national risk-based control plans and national randomized surveillance plan, submission of those plans and data by Member States, and minimum sampling frequencies.

This regulation aims to enhance the effectiveness of official controls in the food and feed sector. The changes will require Member States to provide more detailed information on their control plans and surveillance plans, which will help improve compliance with EU rules on animal health and welfare, plant health, and plant protection products. Additionally, the minimum sampling frequencies for certain substances have been adjusted, which may impact industry practices.

Important compliance considerations include the requirement to submit additional data by Member States, including information on follow-up measures taken for non-compliant residues detected in previous years.
