Commission Regulation amending Regulation (EU) No 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food and amending Regulation (EC) No 2023/2006 on good manufacturing practice for materials and articles intended to come into contact with food as regards recycled plastic and other matters related to quality control and manufacturing of plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food

The European Commission plans to amend regulations on plastic materials intended for food contact to enhance quality control and align with existing rules on recycled plastics and biocidal products. The updates will introduce purity requirements for substances from waste and natural materials, adapt migration testing for multi-layer materials, and refine repeat testing procedures. Additionally, related quality control provisions will be incorporated into good manufacturing practice regulations. Falling under the Health and Food Safety policy area, this regulation is currently in preparation and is expected to be adopted in Q1 2025.
