Brief

The Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2563 of 24 September 2024 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646 aims to enhance transparency and compliance in animal health and welfare, plant health, and food safety regulations.

This regulation updates the national risk-based control plans and national randomized surveillance plan requirements, introducing new information on follow-up measures taken by competent authorities. It also clarifies submission and evaluation procedures for these plans, ensuring timely transmission of data to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

The main purpose of this regulation is to improve the effectiveness of official controls in protecting animal health and welfare, plant health, and food safety. By enhancing transparency and compliance, this regulation will have a positive impact on the industry, enabling more efficient detection and prevention of non-compliance cases. Importantly, Member States must ensure that they comply with these updated requirements by submitting their plans and data to EFSA within specified deadlines.
