Brief

Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2024/2563 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646 aims to enhance transparency and data sharing in the food safety domain. This regulation will require Member States to include additional information in their national risk-based control plans and surveillance plan, specifically regarding the type of follow-up measures taken by competent authorities regarding non-compliant residues detected in previous years.

This amendment will impact the industry by increasing transparency and facilitating better decision-making for animal health and welfare, plant health, and plant protection products. It also emphasizes compliance considerations, as Member States are required to submit data to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) by June 30th each year, including information on follow-up measures taken in cases of non-compliance.

The regulation will apply from January 1st, 2025, and is expected to directly impact the food industry's compliance with EU regulations.
