Brief

The European Commission has implemented a regulation amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/1646. The amended regulation aims to enhance the content of national risk-based control plans and the national randomized surveillance plan.

The revised regulation includes additional information such as the type of follow-up measures taken by competent authorities regarding animals or products of animal origin in which non-compliant residues have been detected in previous years. Additionally, it clarifies that Member States should submit their control plans and surveillance plan to the Commission and transmit data to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA).

The regulation also adjusts minimum sampling frequencies for certain substance groups, specifically those related to plant protection products and biocides used in animal husbandry of food-producing animals. Furthermore, it applies from 1 January 2025.

This amendment seeks to improve transparency and coordination among Member States and EFSA, ensuring a more comprehensive approach to official controls and surveillance.
