Workshop brings together demands for adaptation to climate change

Summary:

The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change (MMA) organized an oficina to develop measures for adapting to climate changes with reduction of inequalities and combating environmental racism. The event brought together society, government, and academia to discuss the Climate Plan and National Strategy for Adaptation. The ministers emphasized the importance of transforming and not just adapting to mitigate the effects of climate change. The plan will have 14 sectoral plans, including agriculture, energy, and healthcare, to be developed by relevant ministries. The event aimed to create a collective strategy for adaptation in Brazil, focusing on justice and combating environmental racism, as well as mitigating climate change effects.
