On July 4, 2025, the National Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health Safety (ANSES) issued an update regarding The temperature of the refrigerators of Europeans studied to better protect consumers. A study by ANSES scientists found that the average refrigerator temperature in Europe is 6.4°C, with 95% of refrigerators maintained below 10°C. This study aimed to determine a reference temperature for calculating the shelf-life of ready-to-eat foods stored in refrigerators. The results will inform European food producers about the actual storage conditions experienced by consumers.
