On "03/02/2025", the "Italian Patent and Trademark Office" issued an update regarding "The new EPO study “New frontiers in oncology” on cancer technologies is available: Italy among the European leaders in innovation, startups and cutting-edge research". According to the study, Italy ranks 6th in Europe for families of patents related to oncology, with over 1,100 IPFs registered between 2010-2021. The country also leads in startup numbers linked to cancer, with 80 startups dedicated to oncology, significantly surpassing the EU average.
