Brief

On 17/03/2025, the European Commission published a new list of substances to be subject of particular vigilance as to their presence in water. This list includes active substances of pesticides and biocides, sunscreen agents, and pharmaceuticals, such as fipronil, octocrylene, and propranolol, among others. The decision aims to identify substances for which data from the entire European Union must be collected to support future prioritization exercises under the Water Framework Directive.
