On July 8, 2025, the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) issued an update regarding additional controls for some sunscreen ingredients. The TGA is recommending reformulation of sunscreens containing homosalate and oxybenzone, as well as benzophenone degradant, to ensure highest safety standards for prolonged use. A public consultation will determine the acceptable level of these ingredients in Australian sunscreens, with no current warnings or recalls.
