On November 19, 2024, the Swiss National Cooperative for the Disposal of Radioactive Waste (Nagra) submitted permit applications to Swiss authorities for a deep geological repository at Nördlich Lägern and a spent fuel packaging facility in Würenlingen. The repository will store all radioactive waste from Switzerland. This marks a significant step in Switzerland's disposal process, showcasing a science-based and participatory approach that can lead to regional acceptance.
