Brief

On 16/04/2025, the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) issued an update regarding SMSF auditor number (SAN) misuse. The ATO reports that since stopping yearly mail outs to auditors in 2023, they have identified 13 cases of SAN misuse involving 11 tax agents and 79 SMSFs, with 7 referrals made to the Tax Practitioner's Board (TPB).
