SIU to investigate Tshwane’s Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has been authorized by President Cyril Ramaphosa to investigate allegations of maladministration and corruption related to the construction of Phase 1 upgrades and urgent refurbishment at the Rooiwal Wastewater Treatment Works in the Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. The investigation will also cover any unauthorized, irregular, or fruitless and wasteful expenditure incurred by the municipality or state, as well as improper conduct by officials or employees. The SIU aims to identify system failures, make recommendations for improvement, and refer evidence of criminal conduct to the National Prosecuting Authority.
