SIU authorised to investigate allegations of maladministration in the affairs of Office of the Premier in KwaZulu Natal

Summary:

The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) has been authorized to investigate serious allegations of maladministration in the affairs of the Office of the Premier in KwaZulu-Natal. The investigation, which will focus on the appointment of a consultant to support six provincial priority programs, will also look into unauthorized, irregular, or wasteful expenditure and losses suffered by the Office or the State. The SIU will also investigate irregular conduct by contractors, employees, and officials, with the power to institute civil action in the High Court or Special Tribunal. The investigation will cover allegations of wrongdoing that took place between 1 April 2007 and 29 July 2023.
