Brief

On 09/07/2025, the Australian Human Rights Commission issued an update regarding "Sex Discrimination Act's positive duty - making workplaces safer". The Commission started four formal inquiries into businesses in high-risk industries and worked with 35 employers to meet their positive duty obligations. Proactive compliance strategies will be launched in September 2025 for Retail Trade and Accommodation & Food Services, and new resources and tools are being developed to support organisations and businesses in preventing work-related sexual harassment and sex discrimination.
