Brief
Summary:
The annual report by the Sustainable Finance Table presents the activities carried out in 2023 on three priority themes: identifying and availability of climate and natural risk data, sustainability information for small and medium-sized enterprises, and insurance protection against environmental and climate risks.
The report highlights the progress made by the four working groups (GDL) in achieving these objectives. Specifically, GDL 1 conducted a thorough examination of available databases and initiated a pilot project on coastal flood risk assessment for the city of Rimini in collaboration with the European-Mediterranean Center on Climate Change and other stakeholders. GDL 2 analyzed the availability of data on household and corporate property portfolios for energy efficiency aspects, with plans to implement a solution to facilitate wider access. GDL 3 created a template to support small and medium-sized enterprises in identifying ESG information for external reporting, and GDL 4 analyzed the causes of the data gap in insurance coverage for natural disaster risks, improved existing data collection systems, and studied foreign insurance schemes to reduce the underinsurance gap.
The Sustainable Finance Table aims to promote coordination among institutions and the economic system in developing and implementing sustainable finance strategies, mobilizing private resources through capital markets to achieve Italy's international commitments.
