Romania: In 2023, DLAF achieved the most important post-accession document on the protection of the financial interests of the EU in Romania

The Fight against Fraud Department - DLAF in Romania published its National Anti-Fraud Strategy for the Protection of the Financial Interests of the European Union in Romania, 2023-2027. The Strategy aims to prevent fraud and ensure the proper use of European funds. In 2023, DLAF completed 173 control actions, with 49 cases indicating fraud affecting the financial interests of the European Union. The department transmitted 126 Reports, 49 Fact Finding Minutes, 12 Crime Reports, and 27 Briefing Letters to judicial bodies, and received 46 requests for technical assistance from European Anti-Fraud Office - OLAF. DLAF also ensured cooperation with national institutions and guaranteed compliance with Romania's obligations under the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The department obtained certification for its quality management system, meeting ISO 9001:2015 standards.
