On March 13, 2025, the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) issued an update regarding "Research reveals 'major vulnerabilities' in deepfake detectors". An international team of researchers, including CSIRO and South Korea's Sungkyunkwan University, assessed 16 leading deepfake detectors, finding none could reliably identify real-world deepfakes.
