Open popular call to prepare the National Protection Plan for Human Rights Defenders, Communicators and Environmentalists

The Brazilian Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC) is inviting the public to participate in the development of a new National Plan for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, Communicators, and Environmentalists. The plan's technical working group, named after Gabriel Salles Pimenta, a defender of human rights who was assassinated in 1982, will hold meetings until May 2024 to gather proposals from organizations, public agencies, and councils. The proposals must be submitted through an online platform by February 20, 2024. The plan will be supported by the Secretariat for National Participation and will help ensure the safety and inclusivity of these defenders.
