New decree to reduce landfill and increase recovery is about to be signed

This measure aims to increase the recovery and recycling of PAP, reducing landfill and pollution, and promoting a circular economy. According to the Ministry, approximately 4% of Italian waste comes from PAP, which are mainly non-biodegradable and have a significant environmental impact. The current methods of disposal (71% in landfills and 29% through incineration) need to be changed, as the recovery of PAP is the only solution. The new decree, implementing the consultation with stakeholders and institutions, is expected to significantly increase the volume of PAP that can be recovered and transformed into secondary raw materials, while ensuring the satisfaction of health and environmental needs.
