Hilcorp Energy Company has agreed to pay a civil penalty of $9.4 million for violating emissions standards during well completion operations, with the amount split between the U.S. and the State of New Mexico. The company will also employ an EPA-approved third-party auditor to ensure compliance and replace old process control equipment with non-polluting alternatives on Tribal lands, resulting in significant reductions of methane and VOC emissions."
