“Determinei ao superintendente que chame, ainda essa semana, uma mesa de negociação entre a empresa e os sindicatos para tratar das demissões que aconteceram nesse final de semana. Inaceitável que a empresa tenha tomado essa medida sem dialogar com os trabalhadores e as trabalhadoras e, para piorar, mande um telegrama em pleno final de semana comunicando dessa absurda decisão”, afirmou.
Por telegrama, a General Motors comunicou aos empregados no final de semana sobre a demissão, a partir do dia 23 de outubro, alegando adequação do quadro de funcionários. A demissão, além de São José, atingiu as plantas de Mogi das Cruzes e São Caetano do Sul. O Sindicato da categoria convocou todos os trabalhadores da GM para uma assembleia, exigindo o cancelamento de todas as demissões e a reintegração de todos os trabalhadores.
