On August 28, 2025, the Investigative Committee of Russia issued an update regarding MFIs. According to the update, when issuing an online loan, MFIs will now be required to verify the identity of borrowers and account or card owners by cross-checking their names, patronymics (if available), and surnames (or first letter of surname).
