On September 11-19, 2022, a group of 7 workers were rescued by the Special Mobile Fiscalization Group (GEFM) from the Ministry of Labor and Employment in the state of Tocantins, Brazil. The workers were found to be working in deplorable conditions, including no formal training, no safety equipment, and no proper sanitation facilities. The employer was notified of the termination of contracts and is required to pay outstanding severance packages to the workers. The operation was a joint effort between the Ministry of Labor and Employment, the Public Ministry of Labor, the Public Defender's Office, the Federal Public Ministry, and the Federal Police.
